3004 aluminum alloy is a deformed aluminum-manganese alloy with good formability, high corrosion resistance, and medium strength.

3004 alloy was developed to meet the demand for thinner gauges in can materials, thereby replacing to some extent its predecessor 3003 alloy in beverage can manufacturing.

Due to the addition of 1% magnesium in 3004 aluminum, the can blank can be made thinner, which helps solid solution strengthening.
